Lights Above the Water

Lights in the water surely make for an enjoyable hot tub experience. It's fun to feel like you're bathing in purple or blue water! However, you should look for a hot tub that also has lights above the water level. This makes it easier to see when you're getting in the hot tub after dark. You're less likely to trip over or hit your foot on the edge of the tub, and you won't have to worry about setting up separate exterior lights for everyone to see.

Accessible Controls

Pay close attention to where the controls are located on the hot tub. Make sure they are in a spot where they can be easily reached while you are soaking in the tub. You do not want to have to get out of the tub — or lean so far over that most of your body is outside of the tub — just to turn the jets off partway through your soak. While you could play music from a separate, portable speaker, it's really nice if your hot tub comes with a built-in one. This way, you don't have to worry about getting a separate speaker wet. You also don't have to worry about remembering to bring the speaker outside with you and then back inside again. Listening to music will definitely enhance your hot tub soaking experience.
